I may try to send a PM,
about your suggestion users are immediately blocked if their post was reported as spam, and was a serious problem because Mollum was doing also automatically was too suspicious, marking as spammer a lot of contributor only because was a link or a suspicious word in their message (RobA and other had to create new accounts because seen by Mollum as dangerous spammer...)
So is not something so simple as impose more rules and filtering, because both may create even worse problems
Out of theory and back to the simple trivial practice first is to fix that cursed index cache because i am not removing more spam if the deleted spam remain visible in the index of most recent messages and topics for a forum bug
...it is just worthless
A very mischievous way to fix spam (aka "spam hell") is to give "spammer privileges" to spammers. When you get "spammer privileges": your posts are automatically marked "spam", and only people with spammer privileges" are allowed to see them. Another way (aka "slow hell") is to delay HTTP answers to noted IP ranges.
