Yes. In Gnome, right-click/properties a file and under the "open with" tab, choose Geeqie. You'll need to do that for each image file type. The version of Gnome in F13 uses this method to associate file types with applications.

Okukar is KDE app so it initially loads slower due to KDE lib deps and Gwenview is not as robust as Geeqie but I think both of those are good apps. I guess it just depends on what you want an image browser to do. So far, Geegle seems feature rich and fast. As saul pointed out, there might be a few bugs though, being it's the first release. It's a fork of the
gqview project, which was abandoned.
