It is possible to bind most brush settings (size/angle/aspect ratio/opacity) to the mouse wheel, but I cannot find how to act on the fade length (and coincidentally, it is also not settable by a script/plugin).
That's what I thought after going through the internet. I was just hoping that the real pros might know of a way that I missed.

Note that when your mouse cursor is above the fade length slider, the mouse wheel acts on the slider.
I noticed that as well. But it doesn't help me in that case... I still need to shift from drawing area to menu bar each time I want to adjust the length.

If you tell us what you are doing, we could find ways to do it differently?
I'm trying to do some hand-drawn "caterpillar" style mountains. For convenience sake I am still using the mouse, so I have to have a way to draw tapering lines with a certain length. As I am using a rather large scale, the fading simulates a tapering quite well. But I want to use lines of slightly different length, either to just add some small variations or to display the different sloping of the terrain.
In the example here, I simply changed the fade length ever so often. It can be done, but it breaks the workflow. It would be so much more convenient if I could change it without having to move the mouse across the screen.
