Been trying to remove some text from a photograph and resynthesizer seems like the tool I need. But I can't, for the life of me, get it to work without crashing.

1. I run gimp as normal.
2. Load picture.
3. "Lasso" the selection.
4. Choose Filters>Enhance>Heal Selection
5. Set the settings in the dialog box that comes up.
6. BAM! It crashes like a big dog.

I've tried re-installing GIMP, the plugins, rebooting, everything I can think of!

I've seen other folks having similar problems, but I don't see how anyone has been able to help.

Anybody seen this problem, or, more importantly, it's solution?

Try "Inpainting Patch-Based" on G'MIC. Works like a charm: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=6817&

I complentamente was unaware of that filter.
I do not I change on one layer and then I merge with the bottom layer.
I simply edit directly in the layer, and apply the filter.
Very good filter!

The only reason I do 2 layers, and then merge, is because I can set the opacity of my patch lower, and be able to see the layer under it. That way, I can see to get really close to the edge I'm wanting to cover.

That's what I thought at first. Either I didn't have them or I had them with the wrong permissions. But this "ls -l" indicates that I do have them and they are in the right place.
