Hiya, I have put a grid on my image and would like to know how to print it with grid showing or export as a PDF file showing the grid? Thanks

The only way I know of is to use the screen grab function of Gimp (File\Create\Screen shot) There may be other ways but I am not aware of them.

There is a grid, that is a drawing aid, the one from the view menu, This does not exist outside of Gimp. I suppose that is the one you have showing.


Then there is a rendered grid, various ways of making one of these but the usual is
Filters -> render -> pattern -> grid



This will become part of your image. always a good idea to put it on its own layer

Here is a Script-fu that will add a command ("Filters->Misc->New Layer From Grid") that will create a new layer and draw a grid on it using the settings of the image grid.

For rotating the grid and getting a good outcome, then a different approach might be required.

with the path rotated, then stroked with whatever style you want is a good choice.

Thank you for this help!! I am using this information to create a quilt designing grid for me to use with GIMP. I discovered the problem with simply rotating a copy of the 1st grid layer by 45 degrees. I will try the link that SystemX suggested. This way the diagonal grid will line up with the intersections of the first grid. The diagonal grid needs to be spaced more. (a2 x b2 = c2)
