It's only the first occurrence, and its obscene, but still somewhat shocking. At least to me, since it's not something I would say on ANY forum.

I've learned a lot over these last couple of years, using GIMP. I've made a point to try to help as many people, like myself, wade through the complexities of using GIMP while following tutorials. Now, I'm beginning to feel unwelcome in various places. So, if I have offended anyone, I apologize.

I agree with PC on this, you're a really cool dude, and extremely helpful as well as talented as well. I've came across people using my nickname on other websites myself, and I contact the administrator all the time about it and make sure it doesn't even happen again. As they usually ban the IP, and/or email.

Hey Mahvin. Just sure how GIMPUsers relates to GIMPChat, but I concur with the others here. I've never seen you even infer a bad thing. You're a straight up guy and you would be dearly missed. Please don't let the jerk at GIMPUsers drive you away from GIMPChat. Handle stealing should be a crime imo, but the Internet has not quite caught up with that. Trolls (jerks) will be trolls but they can't stand the light of scrutiny and usually move on when ignored. Anyway, take care Mahvin. I hope the GIMPUser issue gets resolved pronto. Only posted anonymously a few times but never actually joined the GIMPUser forum. Still, I believe you can show them credible evidence to who you are and they should then (if they haven't done so already) remove the offensive blogger and, if you so choose, replace the password credentials to what your choice would be.

Were you a member at Gimp Users and someone hijacked your sign-on? If so report it immediately to the admin of the Gimp Users forum.

If you leave Gimp Chat I will be soooo sad. You are the model of courtesy and helpfulness and you give excellent help and suggestions. Besides you are a fun guy to have in here.

Don't let this kind of thing bother you or run you off. When Usenet was the big thing, I had my fair share of impostors but they were always called out by the regs. They can spoof your name but they can't spoof your style or your expertise in the subject matter.

I don't know anything about the gimpusers site but I'm sure they log IP addresses, as we do here. Contact the admins there and explain that you have an impostor. If they run a stand up site, they will handle the situation.

If push comes to shove, do not retreat. Reload and fight back.

Please don't panic Mahvin that may happens to any of us is not your fault !

I often fear may happen to me is hard to keep pw and alike always save (and even that may not suffice ,data may leaks from the sides where we registred, or be intercepted in the passage )

Just advice gimpusers (if any problem as blocked account i may do for you ) of what happened and that will solve

Then we may see (i believe many here are interested not only you and me ) on how keep at best our login info safe

Remember that even excellent "security" sides where hjacked, and same for side of expert "good hackers".

If somebody would rob my passport and credit card i would not say to the Police or to my Bank "I am so sorry ...Please forget about me " but i will pretend help

I over-reacted. I just wasn't in the mood for someone posing as me and leaving lewd comments. I only frequent gimpchat these days anyway, so I plan to limit my presence to this forum and my blog. I contacted Bernhard and he removed the comment.

I reached a milestone with my blog, something I never thought would happen, happened. 100,000+ views. My wife jokingly tells me that 50k of those are spammers spamming my site, but I said hey, it counts. I honestly never thought I would get 100k views, spammers or not. I love the GIMP app, so I decided to help noobs like myself, use it. It's been fun.

I like the gimpchat site and Flickr G'MIC, and all the cool people who post here and Flickr.

If you build it, they will come. Or at least that is what I jokingly told myself when I started.

There is so much talent out there, it's really hard to come up with something original on your own.

The only "hawking you down" term I am familiar with is basketball related, where a defender tries to aggressively block you with waving arms.

Forgot to mention this, but someone actually stole my account at innographx once and made some nasty statements. Thanks to a few of my friends there, I was able to contact Phyllis and change my passwords and such. That really angered me. I hate it when hacks to bad things, but like it when they do the right things so I really can't hate hacks overall. Again, I'm sorry that has happened to you Mahvin, but at least things are getting better and also congrats to your 100K.

I guess i have been pretty blessed, i never have had any problems like that.It is sad someone has to do that to another person just for kicks.They really must have a sad life.

I missed the excitement last night, but let me tell you that I am glad you have reconsidered leaving us. I consider the folks I've met here to be more than friends, and some more than family ( some of my real family I'm not too happy with ). You've been helpful and cheerful; one of the people that make me want to keep coming back and learning more - I'd hate to lose that, and no offense to other members of this board.

We have never met face-to-face, maybe we never will...but I have seen your face as you've seen mine through our images and that has added a depth to the connection that has grown between us. Often we don't realize how important our conversations on these forums can be, and when someone drops out we feel the loss.

I appreciate the comments, honestly. I was particularly sensitive about what occurred yesterday, I let my anger take over. After a few hours had passed, I was still annoyed but it wasn't such a big deal anymore. I should have just logged off and let time pass.

Then I realized that maybe I was trying to be more helpful than I needed to be (stretched across various forums on the internet - several too many, in fact). So, I'm going to regroup and focus on a few forums (my favorites: here and G'MIC) and not get too caught up in "well doing".

When all else fails, I jump on Modern Warfare 2 and "unleash" my wrath.

I'm so happy you didn't leave us. Gimp Chat just wouldn't be the same without you.

Gee Mav, I don't know how I missed this post until now but as you can see by 2 pages of well wishers, that without you, it would be very sad cuz you brought so much with you when you joined here. We would ALL be upset if you left.. for all the help you have given us so far...... so glad we still have you.

I find that being an ass makes people reluctant to impersonate me. In your case no one would believe it was you. While not as long-standing or active as some other members I do find your work quite impressive and am one of those non-spam viewers of your site. I would definitely notice if you weren't around. I would add imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Apparently someone out there is incredibly jealous of your reputation in the world of GIMP.

Mike: I'm just a noob, though... I've just barely starting cutting my teeth on GIMP. I find it odd that anyone would be jealous of anything I put out, considering the mega talented designers I try so hard to learn from. And the coders, wow. I walk in the clouds around these people.
