Banging my head against the desk. I want to airbrush behind some text--something I do all the time. I create a path from the text, add a new layer, stroke the path, and it's offset by 100 px or so. Driving me absolutely crazy.

Here's what I've tried to fix it.

I stroked the path with other paint tools, same result.
I reset my airbrush settings to the defaults.
I cleared all paths and tried again, repeatedly, with the same result.
I deleted the airbrush layer and tried a new one. Nada.
I created a new file, moved the layers over, and tried again. Zip.

I was search for help info and found ways to achieve this effect deliberately, but no ways to fix it when it occurs accidentally. Any help appreciated!

I just tried a different font and that one works fine. Ugh. I really want the original font. If I can find a way to keep it...

stroke the path, invert, clear, invert, and continues the process.

Which font gives this problem?

I think I've seen this too (and I'm on Linux). If it's just a mater offset, you can use the Move tool (in "Path" mode) to move the path back to position.

Are there any ligatures (two letters combined into one) in the font?
When you make a selection of the font is it the same as the path?
Have you tried using a channel?

Thank you, but I gave up. I used a gradient behind the text and airbrushed the eraser where I didn't want it.
