I remember to have read that MareroQ resource manager, could read in zipped files , and for me would be very handy.

But even digging i failed to trace that part so a few question

1) i am correct that at least brushes, gradients, patterns and palette may be in zipped folders ?
and is supported only zip or also 7zip ? (i hope 7zip may be supported are much smaller files )

2) i have to include or point to 7zip or similar unzipper?
(my OS as most may open zip without additional programs, anyway i use also 7zip that is gpl)

AFAIK zip is supported, but not 7z (no direct support in Python...).

It is a great plugin

I have everything zipped, most from my GURM folders, I know Ofnuts says this is not memory efficient but wth.

screenshot of a couple of folders & interface http://i.imgur.com/azQVtLI.jpg

Once set up, never changed, the version I use is 18,094B
Moved the menu entry to something more convenient for my use.
Much kudos to authors='Sean Bogie, MareroQ, Ofnuts'

Looks like the next to last version (before I removed the progress bar dialog which is now part of the list window).

Zipped stuff is not a problem of memory but of speed. If you use plain directories on Linux, things are activated by setting up links, so this is instantaneous.

Any idea on how much could slow down in Win ?

And even more important ,WHAT would be slowed down ?

1) the use of the plugin itself, slower to parse or organize zipped folder
2) the use of the resource, i.e. call and use a zipped brush
3) Both

In Win it's copy vs unzip anyway, so that's about equivalent. La peste, ou le choléra...

oh a last minute question :
it is a problem if between the files , as example extra brushes remain the author ReadMe file , that is usually a txt file or is just automatically skip ?

I wonder because would help me a lot to trace credits (author side etc ) leave the files inside

A given anager will only move files with extensions it recognizes(*), so .txt files will remain untouched.

(*)You can go as far as keeping one single directory mixing brushes, patterns, etc...
