Underground Pond

I did this as a quick environment exercise. Took about 4hr. I'm pretty happy with it, although I wish I could've thought of something to put in there to add some life to the scene.

I wish I had your talent Merrak. You could put a ghostlike transparent serpent rising out of the water or just a mermaid.

That's excellent work. As far as "life" is concerned, frog on a lily pad? Fish under the water?

merrak: i love the atmosphere in that picture, you got the lights and shadows so good, the way they play on the walls of the caves and in the water. i think a ghostly serpent or a barely seen fish under the water would make it a really fantastic picture to look at!

I was thinking, maybe take Molly's serpant idea and the fish idea and put together.
Like the serpant ghostly figure trying to eat a little fishy jumping out of the water.

Here's another version with some subtle fish added.

I wanted to add a water serpent, but composition-wise, I realized there's no good place to put it. If the opening were a little more to the left, or the cavern wider, I could have it towering into the sunlight and all sparkly. I'd be better off re-drawing the cavern from a different angle, I suppose... although I don't know if I could pull off that kind of reflection, either.
