This was a known bug in GIMP 2.8.4. Updating to newer version of GIMP should fix things for you.

In the EnviroLogo Script, you can select the option to use "Active Gradient" in the Map Type dropdown, which will direct the script to use GIMP's currently active gradient, rather than the Gradient selected in the script's input dialog. This alternate method of selecting a gradient will work fine in GIMP 2.8.4, avoiding the bug Saul mentioned.
