I've been mostly inactive for a while...Poof! Week or more of no inspiration can be depressing :( ... But I have some now so weeeeeee!!

Here is my new Character, Paisley the Bengal Tiger.
She is supposed to be one of the many mascot type characters I'll be having to develop for my project that I've been hinting on.

The Name is to give her a more middle eastern type aura, and the clothes are also supposed to give that feel too of a middle eastern character, although in this stage it's harder to feel it because she's not colored yet, her braids also to give a more Indian feel. I'm trying to not favor on country as she's supposed to represent the middle east. I think she might need a partner to even it out as she focuses a bit much on just India in my opinion. Thoughts welcomed on that!

The stripes on her face are limited because if I was to color her in I think her face would look crowded, I took artists' liberty with it a bit. :hehe - I think the arms, tail, and feet make up for it; I also took artists' liberty with the tail, as far as I've seen tigers don't have a tuft on their tails but to make her more appealing and "feminine" I think the tuft works.

Sketched on paper, very slowly...Took me about idk...an hour? To draw her, and she's pretty simple to draw as in not overly detailed.

Image

Inked in GIMP, I'm not sure if I'll go to MyPaint at all for this, I might but probably not. *forgive me MyPaint I still love you.* :hehe
Image

Images are both resized, fill sized would be 1200 x 1600.

Update; Colored:
Okey, I was going to post process pictures but I'm not sure if it's needed since it's already finished..
Anyways, here she is all colored!
I used some new technique I've never done before for the clothes and I think it came out rather well!
I recorded myself coloring it but I can't upload until next week (Internet issues :S) so...I'll worry about that later. xD

The texture on her "skin" (fur) is ChrisF's fur brush, and the flowers were made using Fluffybunny's paisley brushes, I also added a pendant, I hope it came out alright! :D

Enjoy! Critique always welcomed. :D

~ God Bless ~

~ Moko

P.S: This is obviously a girl I noticed I wrote "him" once, if I did again please take note it is a girl. :lol

Paisley is adorable ... but you need to give her something with a paisley on it....maybe a paisley shaped pendant or a couple paisley appliqués on her shirt, as a paisley pattern on her clothes might be too busy.

Yes I agree she needs something paisley related, I was thinking a pattern might over do it also.
I think I might give her a pendant like you said or something like that!

I'm glad you liked her! :D

Thank you! :D :tyspin

mokonafan: ooooh, what a lovely name!!! music to my ears. you've given her a really cute expression, she's instantly likeable! nice work on the inking too. but of course there needs to be a paisley here - a paisley pendant would be lovely. and i think you've given her a really broad area to represent, perhaps too broad?
looking forward to seeing paisley coloured and i'd love to see more of this project?

Yes yes, more to come, slowly!
I'm thinking the same, she's not enough to represent ALL of the middle east, I'm contemplating what I will do about that, either make her change clothes often or give her a friend to help her out a bit. Not sure yet!

The inking was quite strenuous to be honest, I don't know how to use the paths tool (when I say pathing it's not the actual tool lol), I tried to use it and I didn't like it. I use the circle tool oddly for almost all "hard" curves and trying to ink with a mouse is just a pain! xD

I have a video I made of me doing it but I have to wait to upload it because it takes up too many KB for my KB limited internet plan atm I have to wait for the bill to be paid or renewed in a week. D:

I'm glad you liked her! :D

Paisley looks fantastic colored! I love how the clothing pattern turned out, not too much but enough to give it an Indian feel. And India is known as a place where tigers are. I grew up with the story of Little Black Sambo, the little Indian boy who got the tigers to run around and around the tree and they melted into butter.

mokonafan: this is the only post i'll have time for before going to work: paisley turned out every bit as lovely as her name sounded!!! really good work on the colouring, every little detail works and i love the pattern on her clothes and the paisley pendant.

2ton: i grew up with that story too, but i always pictured sambo living somewhere in africa :). in our book he and his parents were drawn up in that terrible stereotyping style that europeans always used to draw africans in.
