@molly, enter in the terminal as root ("su" I guess in Fedora) and type "rm /usr/lib64/libpng12.so.0"

Then you should search a libpng12 rpm package for Fedora, and install it.

I fear will be not so simple most Linux distro prevent to install older versions of installed libraries, at least using the package of software manager.
But should not prevent to download and move where could found by gmic the compiled library , or to compile by yourself
