Hi,
I am new to GIMP 2.8. Basically I am a software developer and struggling in GIMP for one of my IOS game app. I have a requirement of 14 different underwater background images for all different game levels. One of that image is for my menu (home screen) scenes background. I tried several tuts but not achieved a good result.

When i tried to follow

At layer#2 it says to use 'Filter/Artistic/Plastic Wrap' which i dont see in gimp 2.8. So stopped here.

I created few images (attached) by following some of the other tuts but I am sure Apple will reject my app if i use this king low quality images....

Appreciate If any one can help me in how to get the 'Filter/Artistic/Plastic Wrap' effect or any good tuts for under water images.

I'd to spend much time looking for the site where I downloaded so I try upload it here.
I find it my Gimp in lights & shadows.

i just found that too but it does not have a great impact on rendered clouds it seems

EDIT: the trick is to duplicate the black layer in Screen mode, that is generated by the script, a lot to get stronger plastic-wrap look

I tried with the scm file but not able to get the effect as its in http://www.webdesign.org/photoshop/draw ... .2800.html

I even tried with duplicating the layer in scene mode but the problem is this script creates fine random circles which gives me an effect of water ripple kind which i dont want.

I even installed the G'MIC plugin. Refreshed and restarted GIMP but still not able to find it.

yeah im experimenting here as well, and its not easy

the G'MIC Relief Light filter seems to create very thick strands of plastic shine, which is not really what is needed for water

i wonder if the G'MIC water filter is an option

i dont like the effects you get from the plasti-wrap script too much either



about installing G'MIC.... there are a few threads here, that will probably help you - do a search !

However this is in PS, and being a starter in GIMP 2.8 i dont find few filters like Bas relief, free prospective etc... But still trying to make it in GIMP. Because the final result is what i am looking for. Meanwhile i am also searching for same tut in GIMP 2.8

3>The original image xcf file is of 1600x1200 with 300 ppi. Will there be any image resolution issues if i modify it to 1536x2048 with 264ppi and 640x960 with 72ppi?
