Did an attempt at drawing a sort of old fashioned waitress, I'm really bad at drawing people, but I don't think this one came out that bad :)
Any critique is very welcome! I'll probably make a full color drawing of this one too.

Just finished coloring it:

Very nice!

All my crituque is optional since it would be style preference but here it goes!

1: Her neck seems a bit too thick and long for her veryyy narrow shoulders.
2: The hand holding the tray seems a bit small.
3: Her hair a bit flat.
4: Her feet look a little weird, like the other foot isn't behind but more like it's just cut off!

Against just style preferences, if this is how you want your style then it's perfect! :D

Good work!

As a caricature or a cartoon it is extremely good. If you are going for something more realistic it would be helpful to learn some basics about proportions. A lot of artists paint people about 8 heads high but that is really an idealized view. People in real life are usually about 7 heads high so your head could do with being smaller. The neck could do with a little shrinking too. The hips should be half way between the top of the head and the bottom of the feet. Lengthening your legs will solve this. Hands usually fit between the chin and the hairline. If you are not used to drawing people I wouldn't expect you to be able to do all this immediately but I think you have the ability to draw people - you just need to keep learning, practicing and most importantly, enjoying the process.

Thank you molly, moko and Erisian! And also for the critique, I'm always really struggling with the proportions so it's really helpful :D I'll keep it in mind for the next time!
I was aiming for realism at first but it turned out to be a bit more 'cartooney', I think it does fit the coloring style a bit more.. But still there are some awful proportion mistakes.

Here's the colored version by the way, just finished it :) Wanted to create a sort of vector feeling to it. Also used a cardboard texture.

That is excellent. I don't think you should be worried too much about proportions here, it works fine.

Like the result BaukjeSpirit. Reminds me of a clothes fashion art illustration. :)

Coloring you minimized several problems that were evident in the line art.
So now may look as a very personal style and not consequence of some technical limitation ....

I feel it on a sort of threshold as if you have to chose :
forget about try realistic proportion and just develop your personal style
or learn some more basic about prospective and anatomy

I mean it is nice but also a bit weird:
the waitress looks a bit as a curios mix between a woman and a children :
very young children and adult have VERY different body proportion , the waitress seems a wild mix of both (but the mix give also a interesting effect and may be developed in a peculiar style :cool )
Let say that the proportion of head and neck with the rest of the body are close to that of a infant but the rest of the body and face expression are mostly woman like

The bottle and the glass are much undersized ,
...or maybe are correct but if correct that drink is for a little doll of a little doll house,
if not should be much bigger.

Nice coloring! I'm not sure if the texture compliments it or makes it look a little dusty...
But coloring it very nice! Maybe adding highlights? Unless you want your style to only have shadows, which is up to you!

Nice work! :D

baukjespirit: i love the style of your waitress, she has a nice retro feeling about her and i think you've chosen colours and texture very well. i also like your style of shading and highlighting, though since you put highlights on the skirt and legs i think you should add some to her face as well, her arms to could do with some. i love the hair :)! makes me think of old movies and it fits the rest of the style so well. the proportions don't really bother me. many illustrators and cartoonists draw their characters with freaky and exaggerated proportions so i don't think it needs to be a problem if you make her head bigger than it would normally be or the bottle and glass smaller than they'd normally be. it's more important that the pose works and i think largely you did that very well - the feet are a problem, though, you get the feeling she's got only one and a half foot and she looks a bit like she's going to fall over to the left any time.
