Yes, we have deleted the contents of this directory.

The GIMP is installed directly on a GIMP.ORG of virgins Windows 8. The error occurred from the beginning. Only after the update to Win 8.1 the error was not there in the short term. And even with the portable Gimp Versions, which I used to test it.

BTW: The same problem I have, and many others, with Camstudio on Windows XP when I record videos for GIMP.

I think most users do not realize it because they do not use this function.

Since you specified that it was working in Windows 8 before the update, a possible temporary fix might be to try running the Gimp executable file in Compatibility Mode.

Find where the Gimp-2.8.exe file is located on your system. Right Click and choose Properties.
Compatibility Tab - Set to run in Compatibility Mode of Windows 8. Also 'check' the 'disable display scaling on high DPI settings'.

Then try running Gimp again.

If this does not work, undo your changes and hopefully somebody might make another suggestion to help you.

You can try moving layers on a old version of Gimp 2.6 using a different version of GTK.

Nothing changes!

Have you installed other programs using GTK ?
Have you made any changes to your O.S. (except updates), installed devices not recognized by GTK ?
