Working on a fantasy point&click adventure with someone else from my class. I'm going to make the backgrounds, she will be making the characters and we both are going to put the whole thing together in Construct 2.

I'm experimenting with techniques and brushes. I just couldn't get the colors right, so I decided to draw in black&white first, and then color it.

Looks wonderful BKS; wonder if you could try for an Avatar night scene like render with floating creatures and glowing plants and such?

Nice representation of a fairy and misterious forest.
I also find that the eventual colouring perfectly suits the portrayed subjects and scenery.

Very nice and both drawings are able to stand on there own because of the quality of the work.

pretty scene...reminds me of something from an Enid Blyton story book from when I was a child

They both look real good, just the way an enchanted forest should look. For some reason the background in the black and white version looks to be more shrouded in mist than the colour version, it gives the image more of a mysterious feeling. Maybe it's the colour on the trees that that makes the mist look thinner on the second image, I'm no painter though so I've no real idea as to why.

I think it is because we are used to mist and distance being cold in colour whereas the ambient light in this scene is quite warm, so the mist looks less misty.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense as the mist would dull the colours. So the brighter the colours the thinner looking the mist. Cheers for the heads up on that one.

I actually like this coloring technique, though I still need to get used to it. But it's easier when you want to change just the colors, or the value.
Caz: That's probably because of the cool colors that are in the background. Cool colors mostly make things darker in my experience.

Interesting combination of sharp edges and almost iconic style with dreamy lighting. This gives a clean and friendly impression that would work well in a children's book or similar I think. Had I not known it was done today I would half expect this to be pixel-art too, there is something in the grass style that reminds me of this most endearing era of computer graphics.

I like it, nice work. Something seems to be missing, but don't know what that might be. Maybe add in a small forest creature or something like that. Still really nice fantasy forest.

I think this is supposed to be the background for a game she's making with a classmate, so the "characters" will be added later.
