We're supposed to get straight freezing rain for the next 3 days in Missouri. The last time that happened we had massive power outages because of trees down. It took them 5 days to get power back on he last time, which left no water or heat in below freezing temps. That won't hurt us, we camp in weather like this but it can be fatal for our rats so I hope it doesn't happen.

Our temperatures here have been great, but we are going to be a little cooler again soon (hit in the 70ºs Saturday, but cloudy and in the mid 60ºs yesterday. May not get to 60ºF today and it's drizzly outside. Still better then being buried in 2 tons of snow and/or ice.

Everyone told me that we were going to have a mild/warm winter this year. It's what the forcaster's and Farmer's Almanac said. But being Cherokee, I looked at nature for the answers. The wooley bears (hairy catapillars) were extra bushy and in an incredible abundance this fall, so I expected a significant winter and the winter has been burrying us here in NJ. The next storm is due to start this afternoon/night and is supposed to go into the day on Wednesday. I personally can't wait for the summer to get back here!!

We have some really good friends in michigan, we went up and visited them a few years back. I had pictured Michigan all the wrong way. If I had my choice I would live there or one other place. That city in MI and the other one in WA state are like paradise to me. I lived two years in Ohio, in the Cincy area and I worked all over the state.

I agree!! I might get some Internet on my phone and some Gimp time on my laptop, if the battery agrees. I'd be climbing the walls if we lose power for any significant time.

Yes, i worked close to there, I've been to their air and space museum.

Michigan is lovely anytime of the year, and the
scenery can be breathtaking. But it can get real severe
sometimes. I live right around Grand Haven so the nasty lake effect
weather coming over the lake goes over, and under us usually.
Thank God.

I went to Lincoln Welding School in Cleveland. An R-J-2 robotics class.
Didn't see much of the city though except maybe a couple of restaurants.
Not too crazy about Cleveland. I was glad to get back home.
The Cleveland zoo is awesome though. Went through half of it
before it closed for the day so i still need to get back there some day
with the family and see it in it's entirety. The exhibits were really great!

I haven't been to the zoo there, but I spent a lot of time in the museum.

The city I fell in love with in Michigan was Manistee, I couldn't remember the name last night. Our friends lived close to Cadillac but right now I can't remember it's name either. (Old age), The last time I was in Cleveland was in the 70s and there was a garbage truck strike, so my memories of Cleveland are tainted.

I've been to every state on the continental US, but can barely remember most of them. I agree with memory being compromised by age.

I grew up about 1-1/2 hours south of Cleveland, and I can still remember seeing on TV the footage of the Cuyahoga River burning because it was so polluted - now that will taint a memory.

In the mid 70s my dad took us for a whirlwind vacation: we drove from home to Buffalo NY and crossed over to Canada and spent one day at Niagra Falls, then across the bottom of Ontario to Windsor and crossed back to the States, then spent a day touring The Henry Ford Museum. As awesome as the museum was I remember Canada for three things: their side of the Falls was much nicer; I don't remember seeing trash dumped along the roads; and breakfast in a small restaurant that served my brother and I hot chocolate with whipped cream in it.

My sister and brother-in-law took me down to tour the Air Force Museum at Wright-Pat. Very cool. And on a school trip we spent a day at the Ohio Natural History Museum in Columbus, and a few family trips to the Columbus Zoo (home of Jack Hanna).

Wright Patterson was neat, I saw a moon rock there and I think it was a Gemini or an Apollo capsule too. The moon rock looked like a Missouri rock to me but the idea of being that close to something not from this world was priceless.

Yeah! I was always fascinated by the space program. I've always been keen on the military also and loved seeing the military hardware there.

Ironically I went to the base to visit a Missouri boy I went to high school with. I ended up not even seeing him but i did catch the museum. I never regretted it, he was boring anyway.

I saw an F-14 close up at Edwards Air Force base once, man are they huge!
Then 1 day my Dad and i were fishing on Big Gurnsey lake up in Kalakaska Michigan.An F-14 went over us real low and sucked the water into the air all around our little row boat.From there on i was interested in not only space flight but flying period. Never did get a pilots license but i still love watching them.
