I could not report the vanished DL link on the registry , because i can't login , now describe my login/registration problem would br lead OT ... the point is that i could not advert the author about the vanished link

I have Gimp Book - 2012.8 rev 55.zip I'm unsure about sharing plugins and the licenses sigh I'd share as long as I'm not breaking any license. here's license.

yes sure the license allow sharing , even allow to redistribute , modify for personal use or redistribute ( under a compatible license and respecting credits ) ...anyway don't worry no limitation to share , as example posting here as attachment

I think that anyway the author should be informed ...no , not about the plugin sharing ,but should be informed about the vanished link , i imagine that updating the page he removed the old version , but then forgot to upload the new

Thanks for letting me know about the broken link on Gimp Registry. I've fixed it now.

That said, there is a bug in Gimp Book, with Gimp 2.8 and 2.10 on Windows 8 (and maybe other versions of Windows). You can see more details here http://registry.gimp.org/comment/18166#comment-18166 The bug doesn't affect the Linux version.

Gimp Book is under GPL v3, so feel free to share it. I'm just happy to have people using it.

I extracted contents then placed files directly to plugins folder and worked fine.did you leave contents in the extracted folder?

or did you place all files into plugin folder directly?
plus did you check preferences to make sure the plugin folder directory is correct.

Here's my menu & folder setup, it's Linux but a similar visual.

I was tempted to put the 3 folders and book.py into one folder and add to my plug-ins folder but decided not to. If you did that I believe you would need to add the sub folder to Preferences.
I tested with only adding book.py to plug-ins folder, it showed in the Windows menu.
Could be just a Windows OS thing.

Nasty bug but i see there is a workaround.. crossing fingers
