Here you go..
Lock Channels

Hope this helps

As far as that image above goes, it looks like you would have to do a lot of smudging and blurring. Someone else may be able to tell you more...

Couple of questions:

• What exactly is Scrip-Fu? (Is this installing new effects?)

something that geeks may use to automatize tasks as all the steps i wrote for a mirrored text FX.
It is a scripting language, may be used to create sort of plugin, that respect to normal plugin (written in C or C+) would have some limits as a very rigid graphic interface (what you see after calling a iteractive script or plugin)and not any chance for a preview

Still people as GnuTux may use script fu to create very cool effects, or to speed up and automatize things that would take ages if done manually

Anyway many prefer now use python, that has also the advantage to be a more commune script language (while script fu is used only by gimp, ...well script fu is a "sub-set" of scheme but even scheme is not much used...for sure much less then python)

Nobody know yet

That is the fractalius plugin and since is a commercial plugin its secrets are not revealed

We did some attempt to replicate the FX (you should be able to trace some related meassages on the Flickr "gimp users" group ) some get even close

But, supposing you use windows, the only way to replicate that would be grab a PS compatible app (XNVIEW as example ) and install there a trial version of that plugin

That would have 30 days to hook you to buy it...

There are many really amazing gimp plugin that have no yet a PS equivalent
But that has not a gimp equivalent

That's a fractalius plugin by Redfields.http://www.redfieldplugins.com/filterFractalius.htm I've thought about buying it, I have 3 or 4 of his other ones.

I have the Fractalius plug-in and it is great. I would love to achieve the same effects manually. This filter has many variables and abilities to it, duplicating it would be difficult at best. Please note that if anyone could do it, Fencepost would be one of the few who could do it!
