I have developed some procedural ice text effect generators and I would like to give a name for each one (you know, like that kind of interesting names people give to PS styles they sell out there).

Some effects are kind of similar, but each one has its peculiarities (in the end, I guess there are not so many completely different ways to draw ice or so).

The problem is they are twelve and I don't know enough words in English to represent them nicely.

Since English is not my native language, I didn't try to make neologisms (words manipulations), because it could lead to nonsense or stupid names.

I was able to think about the following so far:

1 -
2 - Wintry
3 -
4 -
5 - Crystal ice
6 -
7 -
8 - Ice
9 - Frozen
10 - Blizzard
11 - Snow
12 - Glacial

I would like to get suggestions to complete the list.

To get help, I have attached a zip with an example of each text effect.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like fun, how about:

Arctic Blast, Orange Crush, Tundra Swirl, Polar Wave and Indigo Frost

Just to name a few... ;)

Melt Down
Chipped Ice

Thank you.

This "graupel" looks to be an interesting thing. I searched about it in google. It doesn't even have a translation to my language (there is no snow here).

What is the difference between "frozen" and "frost" ?

Frozen: Turned into ice; affected by freezing or by long and severe cold.

Frost: Ice crystals forming a white deposit (especially on objects outside)

They were coded using my own CG libraries. I'm a professional CG developer and recently I created a math model to represent ice.

Everybody will be able to use these effects online at the site cited in this post: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=9703 :bigthup

I like gimp, inkscape and blender. They inspire me to keep studying and researching CG every day.

Ice/snow are really complicated things, aren't they?

Not really, it's more of a language issue.
English is my first language and after 40+ years I'm still learning about it. Or maybe it's just me. :hehe

I know glaze as that liquid women use in nails, or at most an action related to glass. If you didn't tell me, I would never guess this association with ice/snow/cold is accepted by native English speakers. :coolthup

I'm surprised that "Cool Breeze" or even "Deep Freeze", hasn't been mentioned yet.

I could if you want. I just don't know if it would bother the forum admin.

I completed my name list and feel confident it doesn't look idiot.

I knew asking here would be worthy.

Thank you all. :tyspin

For sure, Wallace.

1 - Arctic
2 - Wintry
3 - Iceberg
4 - Frosty
5 - Crystal ice
6 - Melting ice
7 - Polar
8 - Ice
9 - Frozen
10 - Blizzard
11 - Snow
12 - Glacial

I know the names went not very funny, but some volunteer beta testers convinced me that it would be easier for newbie users if we tried to keep the names small and somehow related to how each effect looks like for easier association.

You all helped me a lot! I would not remember words like "arctic" or "polar" that are very good to name effects that look deeply cold. I didn't remember seeing "iceberg" in the options, but for sure I could just think about it after reading some of your suggestions.
