i'm having problems with the update on ml bevel reflect. .. if i opened it in filters - map - ml bevel reflect it would open the dialog box but then just work on something and show the spinning wheel symbol until i had had enough after five minutes and closed gimp down. that happened all three attempts i made with that file.

Not sure what might be happening, but as a test, you can use this image..

Load the above test image, open ML Bevel Reflect 2.0 from Filters/Map menu. If all is well, it should work fine using a normal map. It will say ML Bevel Reflect 2.0 at the top, if you have the right one installed.

Once that has been tested, you should be able to install Bevel Reflect Logo V1.5 into your scripts folder.

Is there any way to avoid these lines when running the script?

The issue with the lines was corrected in V1.3 of the Bevel Reflect Logo Script. Because of that, the problem was never addressed in the actual plugin.

Silly me, layer to image size does it. Sorry Tux it was the layer boundary.

Pretty text Eris. If you want to eliminate some of the jagged lines, Tux posted this fix about a week ago. Here it is here.
Just do an alpha to selection on the text, shrink by the amount of stroke you want, then run Bevel Reflect Logo, which will automatically create a copy of the original text and place it just below. All you need do then is make the copy of the original text layer visible and color it to match the BRL'd text (or whatever color you want the stroke to be). That pretty much eliminates any aliased edges caused by the plug-in.

Yes, you have to compensate for that before running the strand alone plug-in. That issue, along with several others, have been addressed in the script, so you don't have to worry about it. The BRL script is far and away best way to leverage this plug-in.

It's a great script and plugin. Thank you, and thank you Molly for giving me the aliasing fix.

Thank you Molly. I'll probably shrink it and use it as a sig. :)

Gnu Tux: i really have no idea what goes wrong. i deleted the files and installed the plug-in and script again. this time i got the gimp scripts version (not the one graechan posted, that still gave me the same result) to work when i ran it alone. trying to use the bevel reflect logo script i still got the same error message, that this script only works together with the plug-in. i can of course use the plug-in as it is and do any necessary tweaks manually, but the script makes things so quick and easy.

erisian: nice job on the sig, i think it looks great :)! i really like how the hobbiton font looked bevel reflected as well.du är så bra...

Does it say ML Bevel Reflect 2.0 across the top?

If the plug-in is version 2.0, you'll need Bevel Reflect Logo V1.5, which works with V2.0 of the plugin. When running the script, if you get a message about not having ML Bevel Reflect Plug-in, you have the wrong version of the script installed or multiple versions of the script installed.

Gnu Tux: i have the 2.0 version of the plug-in and the 1.5 version of the script, sorry if i didn't express myself clear enough on that point. i will check again for duplicate files, but the chance is very small because by habit i always remove old versions of scripts and plug-ins before i put in new ones. i've been doing a lot of deleting and replacing with new though (because i wanted to see if it made a difference which of the two windows 32 bit binaries i used), so maybe i got confused.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you are sure you have the stand alone version of ML Bevel Reflect V2.0 Plug-in functioning as a stand alone plug-in, the only reason I can think that you would get the "This Script Requires: ML Bevel Reflect Plug-in" message was if you have multiple versions of the BRL script installed or a version prior to V1.5.

What lovely effects!

I have installed both the plugin and script, and when the settings box pops up, it extends too low on my screen. I can't move it up or make it smaller. Is the size of it in the script somewhere, so I can change that number to resize it?

You need the scrolling script. It will add a scroll bar: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=9824

Looks pretty good, Tin. You'll get better results and much less edge aliasing by using the Bevel Reflect Logo script, which adds smoothing and corrects other anomalies.

Hi, I used to come to this forum all the time, but then my computer crashed and took so much of my work and resources with it that I kind of got mad and quit for a while. Now, I'm back with a newer computer, and using Gimp again. It's good to see so many of the names I remember still here.
Now I have a question, if I may. I installed ML Bevel Reflect and Bevel reflect Logo last night, and tried it once. It worked, but today when I try to make the spherical map it refuses to do so. It will only make normal maps. Then I used the map to globe plugin, and that worked, but when I tied to use that map in the loge, it reverted back to making a normal map from my image. Any ideas?
