A few times i've experienced some weirdness when using the mapping filter. The preview windows distorts to a very small window.

The top pic shows the normal proper view
The 2nd pic is distorted

Anybody know why this happens?

The thing I see is in your first one it is set to 2.0 and in the second one it shows 20.0. Maybe the view window opens wider for larger settings. That is just a guess from me.

No, the preview window doesn't change based on settings. Sometimes that happens based on the layer sizes or selections. Try running the Layer to Image Size on the layer you want to map and the layer you're using as a map.

No, the preview window isn't effected by the settings. No matter how I set, it still does the same thing.

Honestly I think its some type of bug.

About 10 mins. later using a white text color it worked again.

This has happened several times over many months and using different computers, different installations and files, so i can only conclude it to be some kind of bug.

Make sure there are no selections on the image before you open the filter.

otherwhirl: honestly i think it's not some bug. number one on the checklist is what erisian says: make sure there are no selections active. number two is what david wood says: make sure you do a layer to image size.
