I used to love this script but it hasn't worked for the longest time now. I decided to see if it has been updated and found a recent script modified on 02/15/2014 to "accommodate indexed images", but I'm having the same trouble. The trouble is that no matter where I set the "Non-Edge Selection Threshold" slider, I get the same selection results.

Well I had modified the script earlier to have it show used selection by default and set the blur radius to 0.1 so I could have a look at the selection without any blur and could use a different smoothing filter and feather the selection. This led me to play around a bit and realized that only changing the blur value will change the selection threshold.

Question is...
Is there a way around this so I can just get an edge selection slider without the blur? Sometimes I like to use the default Gaussian blur method, but usually I like to modify the selection and use different smoothing filters.

Just hoping I could find someone to verify my results and let me know if the script is indeed broken, or there is another way to get an adjustable edge selection without applying any blur by default.

Thanks

I have a script that can do this called color intensify, just let me know if you would like it (it's never been posted)

G'MIC plug-in has a bunch of blur scripts.
Check G'MIC: List of filters for menu placement.
Here's what I found.
  • Degradations / Blur [angular]
  • Degradations / Blur [depth-of-field]
  • Degradations / Blur [gaussian]
  • Degradations / Blur [glow]
  • Degradations / Blur [linear]
  • Degradations / Blur [radial]
  • Details / Sharpen [deblur]
  • Frames / Frame [blur]
  • Testing / Garagecoder / Compression blur
  • Testing / Garagecoder / Depth blur
  • Testing / Gentlemanbeggar / Lens blur
  • Testing / Samj / Sequences / Sequences blur radial
  • Testing / Samj / Sequences / Sequences frame blur

Thanks Odinbc, but I'm looking for adjustable edge selection tool. I already have a good set of blur/smoothing filters I use.
The script I posted used to work this way but doesn't anymore.
Thanks for the link though! Wish you could search from the G'MIC UI.

Akovia the original intention of the script was to intensify the colors in an image (see example below)

As long as I can adjust the edge selection, count me in. I didn't see the script in your post.

Thanks Graechan,
This is the behavior I was looking for but the edge detection part is a bit spotty. It catches some edges, but seems to ignore others. It's probably because this isn't what it was designed for. I wish I could fully comprehend the old script so I could figure out how to either fix it or make something similar.
This script certainly has it uses and I'm glad you shared it with me. :bigthup

Akovia yes you are correct it was designed for something else but by chance it fitted the criterion you asked for !enjoy and feel free to modify as you deem fit

I guess I just wasn't tenacious enough. I went and found the oldest iteration of the script I could find (0.9.1) and it works perfectly!!
I thought I was going crazy there for a bit.
Thanks for all the replies. :tyspin
