Well I wouldn't call it ART, just building on some stuff we already have on our site.

I took on of our Banners and removed the existing text just by over filling the base color. Then finally understood what a PATH was and started building from there. Added Text to path and a couple of layers later. got this.

The field to the right will be Month and Year of the award.

Hope you like it. The original artwork was done by a fellow who goes by the name ChukW, member of our site and a professional artist (like puts bacon on the table doing movie trailers and animations). All I did was add the text layer.

Whacha think?

it looks fantastic !

the sharpie and the flag, all very well done !

the wavy text could be improved, but i think you just said in the other thread, you are new to putting text on a path
also i have to admit its not an easy task

im saying that a lot lately (on a Gimp forum), but this style is something you can do way better with vectorgraphics (Inkscape)

I dloaded Inkscape after reading that comment, took a look and closed it.

Just a note, the back ground is not mine. That's actually an Exacto knife. The Knife and banner were made by someone else. I'm just trying to add the text.

Well a sharpie you write with, exacto you cut things with.

I didn't mean to sound dismissive about Inkscape, I was pressed for time on that post, I took a look at it and saw the menus and controls were a bit more indepth than I was expecting. I'll dig into it more today, if work load is light.

Doing fine down here, can't complain.

Well I showed what I did to my crew on the website and the guy who did all our artwork said he'll redo it to fit more inline with what he has done. Guess he didn't like what i did to his stuff...I didn't ask him to do it because I know we're all busy with life and all...so it seems I'm off the hook for now.

I'm going to further play with gimp to get up to speed to do some of our ribbons we do.
