Gimp Deco

I'm getting quite interested in Art Deco at the moment and put this together from a photoshop tutorial. The one thing that I had quite a bit of trouble with was the fan shapes at each corner. Couldn't find any way of making the shape via any of the filter so had to make a circle, then a wedge shape using the path tool, used this to delete a segment of the circle and then moved the selection by 10 pixels, setting the pivot point as the narrow point of the wedge, and deleted a segment again. After deleting all the required segments I had to make a circle selection over the rough outer edges of the fan, then inverted and deleted.
Just wondering if anyone knows of a better way to create the fan shape. I've tried a few of the path shape tools but not had much luck with getting the right shape via that method.

I think the font could do would some more work, just a bit of a quick fix that one.

are there still bugs in arakne?
downloaded ...creator6a
when I launch the path creator on a new image, I get a heart (default)
if I only just change the shape to -let's say- star, I immediately get:

path shape creator Warning
float division by zero

path shape creator Warning
list index out of range

Additional info (made some other tests):

these are the shapes that - when selected - produce a gimp error on the console:

-flower
-star
-gear
-arc
-spiral
-cross
-polygon

all the others show up

in the folder "shapes" all are in, both those which show up and those which go into an error.

Hi Caz I really like your idea and your corners. I was thinking that there are free border/corner fonts (dingbat fonts) that might help. I understand your wanting it to be original but perhaps it could work.

downloaded twice already, same results
(maybe there is something on my system that generates problems with "special" python plug-ins - by "special" I mean not being a simple single python file...)

Hi Diego - for me it's just information.
When you enter values are still not working?
The actual small mistake, however, occurred (for squares and rectangles - the option Corners: "Rounded inverse" and "Chamfer" stopped working - was reported to the author).

Very interesting Mareroq!
It seems that the plug-in starts working without entering OK.
So, in the example you asked:
1-changed shape (w/o hitting OK) = errors shown
2-entered petals > 0 (w/o hitting OK) = errors shown
3-entered radius > 0 (w/o hitting OK) = errors shown
4-entered rotation > 0 (w/o hitting OK) .... et voilà the flower!!!

What's the matter?

Sometimes (rarely) it happens (at startup) that a shape is "resistant" to change a specific parameter - that I click another (changing value) and it starts to work without a problem.
A small drawback - but the possibility of the plugin are now Excellent.

yes, but: is it "natural" that without entering OK the plug-in starts working?
it's not usual, for me, at all.
do you know other plug-ins doing the same?
or - even better : do you know how to avoid this behaviour in this plug-in?

Diego - I think you should move our discussion to another thread.

As for me, the shape is only displayed (the time when you click add shape - and then you see already two path - but only one shape has been saved)
Take the test:
after the first run (when the shape is displayed) - when you press Cancel - the path is displayed?

I'm talking about error messages, not about layers.
You may see what I mean just selecting flower shape (after the plug-in is called for the first time showing the heart) but having open the gimp console
anyhow, you are right
