3D Vortex

Operating System: Linux
OS Version: Ubuntu 14.04
GIMP Experience: Advanced Level

Does anyone have any advice on how to make this?

That looks pretty 3d! I think you might have to learn how to use blender or something.
I'll be shocked if GIMP can do it.

If you know the equation for it, G'MIC can render this.

You can get a taste by check Rendering>Colored 3D objects. You can look at the formulas used in the preset to see how to input them for G'MIC. G'MIC has a lot of 3D plot capabilities built in but the get the best results, you will have to use the command line version unfortunately.
