if you wanted to take someones head and put someone elses face on it but they had different skin colors how yould you make the skin colors match?

that sounds super tough but i would try to play around with Colors->Map->Sample Colorize.

Make a selection of an area of skin that you're trying to match that includes light,dark and mid tones.
Then on the layer you're try to change color to match select Colors->Map->Sample Colorize and then select that as Destination and select the layer/image with selection as sample.
After sample colorize you might have to darken/brighten your destination to match.

The skintone is super hard to make realistic i find.

There is also some filter, I cannot remember which one, where you match curves with two different pictures in order to bring them into the same coloration.

GMIC layers->blend(seamless) seem to do a lot of the work for me

I never figured out how to arrange the colors by shades.
If I have to create a pallete, I would tone organizing. But I wonder if you can do this on existing pallets.

I had to use the smudge tool to smudge(as suggested by someone on deviantart) to get rid of the hard edge between shadows and hightlight on the right side of the face.
