1. I have 64 bit windows 7 with gimp 2.8. I installed "gimp extensions pack 2.8 " which put 32 bit g'mic in. My typical image is 8x11.4inches with 300 res. When I run some of the artistic g'mic filters the filter crashes.

2. I tried installing the 64 bit version of G'mic but it won't install because of a system error:" libgdk-win32-2.0-0.dll isn't installed"

What am I doing wrong?

1. How much memory you have available is important.
Are you using Gimp 32 or 64 bit?

12 gigs of RAM.
Gimp supposedly automatically detects whether the sys is 64 bit. When I right click on gimp in programs it won't say if it's 32 or 64 bit.

I don't understand your answer, the question from Odin was where is gimp installed,
if it's in C:\Program Files\GIMP 2 then your gimp is 64bit

If gimp is 64 bit but g'mic is 32 bit is that what makes G'mic crash or go slow?
Where do I get libgdk-win32-2.0-0.dll Which will allow me to use 64 bit G'mic?
Thanks

GIMP Version: 2.8.10
Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: Beginner Level

List any relevant plug-ins or scripts:
g'mic

List any ERROR messages you received:
libgdk-win32-2.0-0.dll isn't installed

I have a 64bit windows 7 and believe I installed 64 bit gimp. When I tried to install 64bit g'mic I got the error message. Where do I get libgdk-win32-2.0-0.dll Which will allow me to use 64 bit G'mic?

I'm sure this problem was around last year - year before.
I had a search and couldn't find anything. Any way try this thread and see if it helps

If you download the Win 64bit Partha build from Parth's Place, it comes with G'MIC pre-installed and many other plugins as well.

Thank you Wallace. Partha.com is a great place to download 64 bit gimp , 64bit gmic and ufraw. I then added gimp paint studio brushes and I had it all. It's tough for gimp newbies to find all this without lots of frustration.

If you are stuck with something, ask away. There are many members here that would love to help with any Gimp issues.

thanks Molly. One thing I don't understand is why black backgrounds are used in the gimp windows---which makes things hard to read. Can this be changed to a lighter color?
