There's been some space art going up on the forum. That just makes me want to do another one of my own.

Not bad, but this is a humongous image (4 megabytes!!!)(*) which is embedded in the page, and makes the whole page very slow to load.

(*) The thumbnail is just the full image with size information to scale it down on the user's navigator:
<img src="http://gimpchat.com/files/2352_blue planet.png" alt="Image" width="150px" class="hoverbox resize_me" />

Try to sound less enthusiastic. :( I'll endeavor to pack my next one into a post card size or something.

I was told to thumbnail larger images because they're easier to view. I've not experienced this slowing you're talking about. I guess it depends on your browser though.

The idea of a thumbnail is to replace the big 4MB by a smaller (20K) one that you can click to start downloading the big one (so that the user decides if/when the big download happens). In your post the thumbnail is just the big image, told to display at a small size, the the big image is downloaded unconditionally.

The problem isn't with the navigator but with the Internet link speed. Try to browse this page with a smartphone... (good data plan recommended).

I'm not sure how I would change that aside from making a tiny pic to upload here? If I use the thumbnail from the menu it does what it's always done. I'm sorry if your smart phone is having issues with it. It's loading a small image in the browser on my pc that can be clicked for the larger version. I suppose your issue would be annoying if my screen was the size of a postage stamp though.
