2-ton,

If you do not select an external image or map in the Spherical Emap (png/jpg) dialog, BRL will automatically generate and use a spherical map from the gradient and settings specified below (highlighted in yellow).

Image

If you do select an image or map in the Spherical Emap (png/jpg) dialog, all of the options to create a spherical map (highlighted in yellow) are ignored and the image you specify is used as the map.

To use your own image map (need not be spherical), just select your image using the Spherical Emap (png/jpg) dialog. :bigthup

In a future release, I'll remove the "Spherical" terminology from that dialog because it really doesn't have to be spherical, as demonstrated in this thread. ;)

I tried this kind of Map in ML B Reflex and it works there, too.

I made sure to make the top left corner transparent, but it still put in the foreground square as the color of the background. I had to alpha to select the 'text' layer, invert, and cut. Not a big deal and it probably eliminates the jaggies, but I expected to have a transparent background.

Nice result, Issabella. :bigthup

Your result turned out great as well, 2-ton. It definitely has the Halloween look. :hehe

Not sure what might have happened with your BG color but you must fully clear the pixel in the upper left corner of the map to get a transparent background. BRL always uses this pixel's color as the color of the result's background. Maybe you just need to try it again.

You can pretty much eliminates any aliased edges by performing alpha to selection on the text, shrink by the amount of stroke you want (I normally use 1 or 2), then run Bevel Reflect Logo. BRL will automatically create a copy of the original text and place it at the bottom. Make that copy of the original text layer visible and color it to match the BRL'd text (or whatever color you want the stroke to be). ;)

To add to Tux explanation, here is what I do 2-ton. Open your image, add alpha channel
make a small selection in the top left corner - delete. You will now have a small transparent selection in the corner for the script to work.,

I think I know what the problem is...I just went to look at the map I made and noticed that it is a .jpg file. Gah, even I know that .jpg does not support transparency, lol. Well, problem solved, so it's all good.

Finally got it all straightened out with the transparency, but I don't like any of the tests I did with using a white burst in the map. They never looked right in the final result. I find that to get a really shiny look, I just need to use a gradient with the light color in the middle.

Very nice, 2-ton. Thanks for passing along that light color in the middle tip.

This was a red, white, black gradient that I set the shape to Conical (sym)

I forgot to add the BRL map I made. The reason the color looks different is because I played around with hues and such on the graphic, after I used the map. The map is just a regular gradient, with a small area added with the same gradient just to make the graphic a bit more interesting shine-wise.

Very nice, Molly. Love the text and your background.

This is one I used a piece of a NASA image for the map.
