Got to really practice using layer masks when creating this. Glad I did, not as hard as I thought, just very time consuming. I really like the results, so it was worth it.

Nice work, it's very clean looking.

Great job, however, I find the blue text a bit hard to read, perhaps my screen isn't as bright as it should be or my eyes are too old.

For the blue text try, #268bd2. It from the Solarized palette (gpl in download). It's a very useful palette to have handy, especially for text on multi-colored backgrounds.

Thank you all for your comments. I changed the blue and it really did make a world of difference thanks for the suggestion.

That look a lot better jeanniem, I would also consider changing the color of 'Eating Right'. For a more consistent hue (using Solerized again) consider #fdf6e3 or #eee8d5. The white for the date is fine as is and maybe slightly tighten the line spacing of 'Finding Just the right balance' to expose the player's chin.

For some reason the head does not look proportional to the body of the main focus character. Maybe because the head is tilted back? Maybe it's because his shirt is bundled up.Good job though.

This is great. I like how you cut out his arm and basketball to put it in front of the magazine name.
Most magazines covers don't bother they just put the text over an image.
