Drag and drop layer in Single Window mode into another image [SOLVED]

GIMP Version: 2.8.6
Operating System: Linux
GIMP Experience: Intermediate Level

I keep trying to drag and drop a layer into another image in Gimp in Single Window mode and so far I have not figured out how.

When Gimp is in 3-window mode, I can click on a layer in one of the image windows and drag it over to the other image window and drop it. Has anyone figured out how to do this in Single Window mode?

The only thing I was able to do in single mode is open two layers, then I opened one and tried to drag the other one over to the tools and drop it. All it did was to create a new window. So I ended up with two separate windows up at the top

I've tried dragging a layer to the other thumbnail image in single window, the other image comes up but the layer won't drop into it.

It's a feature that I use frequently and it keeps me from using Single Window mode entirely.

It's not supposed to work in 2.8.6.
In 2.8.14 drag a layer over the target image tab and when that image comes up, drop it over the canvas area.

Gimp 2.8.14
When I drag a layer from image #1 to the tab (at the top) of image #2 and drop it on the canvas of image #2 a copy is added to the top of layer stack of image #2.

This feature worked (accidentally, due to a bug) in 2.8.0. Then they fixed the bug and feature was gone but many users liked it.
Re-introduced in the latest release as the real feature.
But... there is a simple workaround for pre-2.8.14 versions. Drag and drop a layer over the toolbox panel (on the left) - it opens as
a new single-layer image, then drag its tab over the target image tab and drop on the canvas.

GIMP 2.8.14 has been in the Fedora 20 update repository for several weeks now. It works great. An excellent update. :bigthup

Ah! I just updated my Fedora 20 and Gimp 2.8.14 was in it. Thanks k1te and rich2005. It works!

I really missed that feature.
