Is it made with the new frame-glass Plugin?

No. I could try that though. I would like to make a glass looking plate.
I did the original circle pattern in G'MIC, (pattern - circle art) then embossed the image, I added a layer and put a gold gradient blend on it. After that I reduced the opacity to let the pattern show through. Merged layer down. I cut out a circle from this using the ellipse select and pasted as a new image.
Keeping the selection of the circle I carved/chiseled the edge. Then I shrunk the selection 100 px and run chisel/carve for each ring.
I did change the settings somewhere but you can't notice. (I can't any how).

Hmmmmmm might try that glass plate now.

Sallyanne, your first one looks like a pottery plate to me. I like it.

@Ella: yours is like a metal plate that may have a bit of heat staining. Nice!!

@Dinasset, I tried to make you a bowl of soup dinasset, but it turned into something else, haven't figured out what yet.

I have no idea Molly why it got the ^ in the first ring from the edge. Maybe the selection followed some of the pattern? I'm sure the selection was a smooth circle.

By the way it does look like broth with a little bit of Chicken? in it.

@sallyanne - it was seeing some of your posts that inspired me to join Gimp Chat and to try out the glass frame script in the first place! So whilst I am reasonably new to Gimp, I was following your posts on 'plates' this morning but I do not understand some of the techiniques you/others refer to like 'path shape creator' and bevel/chisel.

Even so I thought I would have a try at a glass plate using the glass frame effect script. It is attached below but I have no idea now what I actually did in the end to create it, as I accidentally closed off Gimp without saving the xcf file!!

That came out great. It makes me think of glass. Good job.

OK - because I love textured glass and the glass effect script, I tried another plate. This time I used a pattern of a rock face in the Katherine Gorge. The bevelling function still confuses me but trial and error and some extra touches produced the attached from the script, with separate iterations for plate centre and rim.

I still have to learn how to use the bevel effect well. So I used instead the chisel/carve effect.
Ella used the Path shape creator. Someone here may be able to give you a link to it.It is a script. Makes quite a few shapes. Mine does 22
Here is one - the star...it does ellipses as well but I did this one with ellipse select.

Thanks Sallyanne. Well the adrenalin has been flowing today - so just one more glass plate, this time using a photo of my peaches and cream grevillea as a pattern. Whilst I am still not sure of how some things function, I now seeem to have a workflow for these particular items!

Very nice tux, is that from scratch? If so, you did an excellent job on the bevel and shadows.

Yes. The plate was done from scratch but BRL did most of the work on bevels and shadows. All I had to do was to provide a template for it to work with. I need to do a little more work though because It kinda looks more like the bottom of a plate than the top of the plate. I think the ridge needs to be more concave than convex.

Here's the plate template I have so far. Y'all are welcome to play around with it to see what you can come up with.
