i seem to get bored so easy now. and have no clue why. i can't seem to figure out what makes me this way. i will start a movie only to stop it like 5 min into the movie. i really love football, but it is almost like work just watching a game anymore. i'm bored with it way before the 1st half is over. I start a picture in gimp only to stop working on it before i truly even get started on it. When i am at work, i have so many things i wanna go do, but as soon as time comes to go home, that urge fades away and never comes back for days. i have tried going for walks, going for a drive, talking with friends, getting on the computer, getting off the computer, staying inside for the day, going out for the day, playing games, just plain talking to a loved one. at the end of the day the boredom is still there. Even my favorite tv shows don't help anymore. i have tried listening to music, watching movies, talking to friends, being alone...nothing works....and right now, i'm not sure why i even posted this post. thats kinda my life now. very little answers to anything.

Sounds like adult ADS. I have a similar issue but I usually can last 75% of a task before it bores me. I never seen a shrink (nor will I) but I know my limits and try to do things to overcome them. :)

I feel that your posting this is a good thing. The more you discuss how you're feeling, the chances are that you may discover the cause. If this is something that has been with you for some time, it's likely that it could be ADS as lyle has said. It could also be a symptom of depression.
I've lived with depression most of my adult life and still do. Talking about how I feel has helped me immensely.
I've often found that I have to force myself to take part in the things I "enjoy". This may seem like a contradiction, because if you "enjoy" doing something, you shouldn't feel the need to force yourself to do them.
Keeping my mind occupied is important. I need to stop from being inside my head.
I must have a dozen or more Gimp project that I'm always returning to. Sometimes I work on 5 or 6 of them a day.
It's a good thing that you're talking about this.

rdgracer71, imho, you made a list of the classic symptoms of depression. In short, do not have interest in anything is a classic symptom of depression: a lack of desire. Humans are desiring beings. We only stop to desire when we die. I think you should seek specialist help.

I don't know anything about ADS but I agree it could be a symptom of depression. There's a lot of it about these days and I've lived with it through most of my life. Maybe some kind of counseling might help?

I think we all went through phases like that.
When it happened to me, a friend dragged me downtown to feed the homeless.
It worked for me..seeing how those poor souls live snapped me out of it.
I since then, still go and feed them on occasions.
I hope You will feel better soon and like they all told You ,don't let it bottle up

Like Wallace I have suffered from depression since my teens. I am on medication which my family physician has prescribed and I have not seen a Psychiatrist as I don't think it will really help much. I have learned, over the years, how to deal with the various symptoms that arise at various times. The one thing I will say is: Be patient with yourself, and treat yourself with the same degree of kindness you treat others.

I only have one other thing to add. I find that my depression is worse in the winter days due to the lack of light. This is medically referred to as SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) and is treated with light therapy, which I have found very useful.
