I was wondering if there was a panelling plugin or script available for gimp. I looked in the registry and they had one, but it wasn't what I was looking for.

I've seen it in paint.net and I wondered if gimp had a similar plugin.

I think maybe Gimp can do that. I seem to recall stumbling on something similar, not long ago, but forgot where.

Edit: Have a look at, Layer → Transform → Offset (Wrap around)

I tried it that way and it works but I still can't help but wonder if there's a script that can go further than what offset does in the layers section.

Layer → Transform → Offset (Wrap around)' doesn't have a way to slide the panels to make multiple panels.

Though it's not GIMP, it is now (use to not be) open source. The program is called Patternshop.

The 3x3 preview changes in real time as you draw in the small design canvas. A bit flaky and prone to crash.

Exported as a png and in Gimp, used as a brush here rather than a tile.
