Photoshop templates.

Photoshop .psd templates

Is it possible to use Photoshop templates (.psd) in Gimp? If so, how is this done?

sorry, I don't know what a PS "template" is and what it does, specifically

A PS template is just a PS image that is a framework to create an individual image. Might be for a web-page or a letter head, seem to recall plenty for facebook.

The problem is, nothing there is going to work.
PS text layers are no longer editable text, they are rasterized.
Same with PS vector objects.
Layer effects do not work at all.

Generally waste of time / money

I see now that this won't work as I expected. Can still use the image to work with though.

You can but with many limitations. GIMP simply doesn't know how to output ps layer effects and text layers.

Most of the PS templates these days are useless in GIMP because they contain smart objects or linked images (this makes it easier to create output files for
PC and mobile devices from a single template)
Very old PS templates may work if there is no layer styles or adjustment layers, which are, as already mentioned, also not recognized by GIMP.
