Warming up a pre-cooked turkey.

Woke up this morning to cold-mageddon. It was 13.9ºF according to my remote outdoor thermometer. lol

My sister gave me a pre-cooked frozen turkey from Publix at Christmas. Thought to myself, today was the day to warm up the turkey (and also my house; lol). Still have a half hour before I turn down the temp to baste it more (a deviation from instructions I know, but going to milk the heat for as long as I can; lol).

How cold did it get at your home? Looks like over 70% of the country got hit with this one; glad I live south of Tennessee.

While you are still suffering from your cold adventure, I'm now eating some very tasting Turkey w/ mashed potatoes and Corn Bread dressing. lol

Delicious; no frozen pipes and the turkey came out perfect. It's now 21.4ºF too here by the way.

Hey guys, what is all this about being cold ... here is our local forecast for today/tomorrow...(remember its celsius!)

That's about 97F.

There are a lot of people that have misconceptions about Canadian weather Lyle. Southern Ontario is quite equal in temps to as far south as NYC and other states on the same parallel. Northern Ontario like Thunder Bay, Sault Ste Marie etc are another story.

Maybe so Molly, but I think NY is too far north and consequently cold. I do live in Middle Alabama.

Yes I know that but you wouldn't believe the people that think Canadians are Eskimos.. Anyway, I guess I am lucky to live in the most Southern part of Eastern Ontario.

too hot for me. 75F is about right for me. Anyway warmer I would be sitting inside with the AC on.

Now that I know it's not bad to open up an old thread (lol), I thought I would share with you the rest of the story. I kept aside the bones (still had plenty of meat on them) when I cooked the turkey up last week. Well, though I would make Turkey with Rice Dumpling soup (not in the mood to make seaweed soup this time). Purchased a can of gumbo mix to help thicken things up some too (probably not needed since the dumplings, when they swell, will thicken the soup fine, but I did want to at just a hint of bite to the soup and the can of gumbo should do fine). Just boiled the meat of the bones and am finishing the soup now. It will be around an hour for the dumpling to cook like I like it. Should supply me with quite a lot of soup too. Also still have some good meat left of the turn (in a ziplock bag) too so I won't be starving any time soon. lol

When the temperature goes just below 60°F here where I live. Most people think that's cold. I've seen people wearing gloves,scarves and heavy winter coats, while I'm out and about in my shorts and a t-shirt riding my bicycle. :hehe

Eating a bowl of it now Wallace; celery's still a little crunch (but its way past lunch time and I'm hungry; lol). I did turn turn the fire off with lid on and the celery should soften up on it's own before I place the result in the refrigerator. By the way, it's quite tasty. Rice dumplings (dagook) rock. lol
