Looks impressive; not for PC though. Some things, sort of, but not with the ease of this cool looking editor. GIMP cannot currently handle higher bit depth images either (beta version of GIMP can, but it's still beta).

They have an About page at their web site, have you not compared features? I doubt anyone here would have experience with it. Why don't you download it and see what you think? It looks like it has features more comparable to Photoshop than Gimp.

Looks nice of course... but you also have to think about what Gimp does that it won't do. And by "Gimp" I mean "Gimp" and all the plugins/scripts out there.

Unfortunately, I don't have Mac. Hair extraction seems pretty simple or just the video make it looks simple.

Well they did say other platforms will follow the mac suite so...

Doubt it will be free though.

It looks very nice. Of course, their demo made it look really easy.

I like the lighting feature that was shown in the demo, but the demo makes it all look so easy as Oregonian has mentioned.

looks like a great video but what I would like is a script that really does perfect hair extraction. The closest one I have ever seen was out in Gimp-2.6.7, I think it was. but it was never offered after that.

It's tempting. If I didn't have a 2/3 full hard drive, I would think about the free download.

I don't know where I came across Affinity Photo a few days ago but it piqued my interest enough that I watched a few videos and read user reviews. I purchased it and will play around with it and report back.

In keeping with Gimp Chat policy but wanting to give some feedback since I promised...

CONS: It's not free. Third-party plugins (not free) not all work at this time with the program(s); yes, two, Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer depending on your need. Support is adequate at responding but no foreseeable solutions until next update.

PROS: Currently for us Mac folks. It had me at "Inpainting". Non-destructive: "Live Filter", Adjustments, Styles, et.al. Ability to save work with "History". It will be available for Windows (currently a Beta version available).

Having said all of the above, there are things that Gimp gives us that AP at the moment does not (not to mention that Gimp is thankfully free and we have our amazing script and plugin compilers).

There are many videos that show what AP and AD do... and would more adequately give an accurate picture (no pun intended) as to what they can do.
