Gimp closes as soon as i open it. Tried re installing and deleting

GIMP Version: 2.8.14
Operating System: Mac OS
OS Version: Mavericks
GIMP Experience: Beginner Level

Hey first of all im new so hello everyone!

I have a issue that as soon as i open gimp is close automatically. This only started happening last night after months of using it. Ive reinstalled several times but cant seem to get anywhere it just does exactly the same thing. Opens for about a second then closes before i can do anything.

Im using 2.8.14 on OS Yosemite 10.10.02

Realise i might be missing something really obvious so please take it easy!

Welcome to Gimp Chat.
I was wondering if you're sure that you performed a completely "clean" installation of Gimp?
If any files were left behind, this could cause trouble when launching Gimp, as well as other issues.

Likely a problem with your Gimp profile. Rename your Gimp profile and restart Gimp to make it create a fresh one.

I would suggest to get rid of the gimp installation that you have, and go get mcgimp from Partha.com as it will be very simple to install. You just download it and it unzip itself. I just drag it to my applications folder and its good to go. It also has quite a few of the most useful plug ins and GMic already installed. It works perfectly on my Yosemite OS.
