Yeah; Graechan's build does not have libcurl.dll so downloading samj's build now. Will let you know if I have any issues. As a side note, the download's going very slowly for some reason. Aborting the download and will try later. :)

Hello David,

Today, I have tested G'MIC 1.6.0.3 version on Windows Xp (Gimp 2.8.14) and the Curve interactive > Lab color works fine there.
I have even installed the new 1.6.1.0 beta version on Kubuntu 14.10 (Kde desktop) and the Curve interactive > Lab color works fine on Linux as well.

On Windows 7 (64 bit), with G'MIC 1.6.1.0-beta_32 bit instead this lab color option does not work (no matter what jpeg image I try).
Maybe there is something wrong with this particular setup.
Strangely enough, only the lab color "crash" the G'MIC plugin (the other options all work fine: RGB, HSL, CMYK etc).
All in all, I suggest not to spend any time on this small lab color glitch of mine :-)

Thanks again for your help !

Hi Sylvio,

Well, that looks exactly like a regression : the Lab color curves does work on 1.6.0.3/Windows, but not on 1.6.1.0_beta/Windows.
Today, I've already tried to reproduce this bug on Linux, but with no luck (but you say all is working on Linux too).
I'll try to reproduce the bug on Windows, on Monday. I'm just hoping this will crash, otherwise I won't have any ways to fix this.

Could you try also with the 'Lch' colorspace and 'YCbCr' (maybe the first could crash too, not the second).

Maybe you could help me a little bit. Could you do these steps :
1. Open the G'MIC plug-in, set 'Output mode' to 'Debug mode(logfile)'.
2. Run the interactive color curves in Lab colorspace. Do the thing to make it crash. Be patient, as the 'debug' mode is much slower, so it may not be as responsive as in 'normal' mode.
3. Go to the %TEMP% folder (on XP : C:\Document and Settings\user\AppData\Temp\) and grab the 'gmic_log' file there.
4. Paste in somewhere (on pastebin for instance), and share the link :)

This could help me to locate where the crash occurs more precisely.
Thanks again.

Hello David,

For me, the Curve interactive - lab color crashes no matter what jpeg I try (small, big size etc, you name it).
Therefore, it is pretty easy to send you the crash_log file :-)
As soon as I apply some change with the Lab color option, the G'MIC plugin goes down on Windows 7.

Here it is:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/309 ... T/gmic_log

My system is:
Windows 7 - 64 bit
CPU Intel I7; 8 gb Ram; GPU Nvidia GeeForce 1 gb Ram
GIMP 2.8.14

BTW, I have tried G'MIC 1.6.0.3 with Krita 2.9 (beta 3) on Linux (Kubuntu 14.10) and the lab color option works fine there :-)

confusion reigns, the 32bit files from your site use curl.exe but samj's use libcurl-4.dll
when I compiled I got curl.exe
what am I doing wrong or different?

'Bayer filter' behavior seems to have changed.

I'm pretty sure that the starting pattern (eg Green-red) referred to the top left pixel and the pixel to it's right. If this is true then the Green-Red and Green-Blue have the red and blue pixels in the wrong place.

The naming scheme works if the starting pattern refers to the top left pixel and the pixel below it.

Works excelent David. :bigthup
This is how i installed Sams version.
I replaced the curl.exe with Sams i also placed the config file in the _gmic folder allthough that probably isn't needed. And installed (wrote over) all the other files in the user/gimp-2.8/plug-ins folder with the 64 bit dll's and gmic-gimp executable. Everything including Rodilius works nicely in windows 64 bit.

Here is an example of ministek.

Refresh is very, very fast by the way. :)

Thanks Rod.
The '_gmic/' folder should be removed completely for the installation. Could you try that and tell me if that is still working.
Also, could you try the interactive color curves, but in 'Lab' mode ? This is apparently the mode that causes the issue.
Could you try also the 'Lch' color mode ? I'm interested to see if that also crashes or not.

Thanks!

Graechan, there is now new flags set in the Makefile, which allow the support of libcurl in the plug-in.
I don't know if you are using the provided Makefile to compile the plug-in (but you probably should :p).
In short : you need to add '-Dcimg_use_curl' to the CFLAGS, and '-lcurl' to the LIBS for linking.

Sure thing.

After removal of the entire _gmic folder and refreshing G'MIC everything refreshes well and still very fast.
Interactive color curves LAB mode - Everything works fine. This is LAB working on a JPG image by the way.

Lch color mode - How do i test this?

Rod, for the Lab test, please use the filter named 'Colors / Curves [interactive]', and select the Lab colorspace in the proposed option.
Do not use the filter 'Curves [Lab]', as it seems this one works without problem.
In 'Colors / Curves [interactive]', you have the option to select 'Lch' as well, for the colorspace.

Sylvio, I've just tested the latest win32 beta version of the plug-in, on a virtualized machine (XP, 32bits).
And the Lab interactive color curves just works fine too.
Sylvio, you have a very interesting bug, and from the gmic_log you sent, this is clear that something serious is happening
(like incorrect memory accesses). I'm very interested by any additional details you could give, in the hope that I can reproduce this bug.
This is quite frustrating to see a bug happening somewhere without having the possibility to reproduce it.

So, my question : is the 'Lch' color space also works for the filter 'Colors / curves [interactive]' ?

Hello David,

Nice catch indeed :-)
On my system: Windows 7 - with the 1.6.1.0 beta-32 bit plugin the Lch mode crashes as well as soon as I apply some change on the curve (no matter what jpeg image I try to modify)

Here is the link for this second log:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/309 ... g_lch_mode

BTW, I have installed the 32-bit plugin (instead of the 64 bit, which would be the natural one for my system) because it was the only one available back then when I tried the G'MIC 1.6.1.0 version :-)
I don't know much about G'MIC working (as regards the "Ram memory handling") but I have read that with a 32 bit system you can not use more than around 4 Gb of Ram (and my Windows 7 - 64 bit computer has 8 Gb at disposal...)

Thanks Rod, thanks Sylvio.
I'm actually coding new stuffs in G'MIC, to add more debugging informations.
I'll try to post new beta binaries as soon as possible, so Sylvio, it could be nice if you can update your plug-in binary when it will be ready, and make it crash again (but the log file should be more easy to analyze :) ).
I'll tell you when it is ready!

OK; finally was able to download samj's file. No more subdirectory curl which is cool. libcurl works too. Tested only a few things as I did Graechan's build and no issue with presets that I regularly use thus far. :)

Thanks Silvio.
The new files should be available now : http://gmic.eu/

Let me know if you get a new crash and a log file :)
