Hey guys. Haven't been using GIMP too much lately, but resumed finishing a logo for someone tonight. Every time I either scroll through the fonts using my mouse wheel, or just clicking the font dialog to open it up, my GIMP has been crashing. This is a new one to me. I listed the error message. Thanks.

Do you use a Total Commander plug-in for Gimp?

I did a system restore on my pc, and it seems to have corrected it. I think what happened, was that I installed some Photoshop plugins that weren't compatible.

Nope, that wasn't it. It's still doing it.

Just reinstalled GIMP, with the same result. Not sure what the dealio is.

Have had a similar problem before: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=10098

I tried removing a few newer fonts I have, but it still does the same thing. I even removed all the fonts in the GIMP user folder, still a no go. Frustrating.

No ideas?

Here is a Windows 7 and Vista StackHash and Appcrash Fix

1. Click on the Start menu and then go to the Control Panel

2. Click on System Maintenance and then System

3. Choose Advanced System Settings.

4. Under System Properties, select Settings from the Performance section at the top.

5. Click on the Data Execution Prevention tab.

6. Select “Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select”.

7. Find the executable file for the application that triggered the error.

8. Select the application causing the error and click Open to add it to your DEP Exceptions list.

9. Click OK to save your new settings.

BTW, about point 6 in my system I have turned on the FIRST CHOICE (apply ONLY to Windows essential programs) and Gimp and other apps are working.
I don't know which one is your setting, maybe you can have a check

Figured it out. My tera copy copier stopped working, so I ran my spybot search and destroy. Sure enough, I had adware called NetCrawl. Not sure where it came from, but all is well now.
