Installation and use of gmic on my OSX (10.7.5.) was successful but I can´t access the
film filters. It seems the filters have moved from sourgeforce net but until now I have not
found the place where to store them local or the place to change the download path.

Are there any news?

Thanks in advance, Axel

"G'MIC Home"

That tells me ... what?
Seems I´m to blind to find the solution myself.

If it's the Film emulation presets, have you tried from within G'MIC?
Filters → G’MIC → Film emulation

Yes I´ve tried. It seems that the download path doesnt´t match anymore.
Found a similar folder on gmic.eu but don´t know where to put it locally on MacOS
to get the module work with it.

Hello Axel.
Reading what you describe makes me think you have an older version of the G'MIC plug-in,
where the Film emulation filters try to get their data from Sourceforge.
And yes, the data are not on Sourceforge anymore, so that won't work.

Could you tell me what version of G'MIC do you use (displayed on the plug-in title bar when opened) ?
Latest stable version is 1.6.5.0. Maybe you should try to upgrade to the latest version.
I know installing G'MIC on Mac seems to be an issue for many people, sorry about that, but we don't
have many Mac packagers in our team :)

Hello Ronounours,

thank you for your hints. Yes, it was an older (1.6.0) Version of the G'MIC plug-in.
Now I have deleted all GIMP and G'MIC Files from the system and made a new
Installation of GIMP 2.8.14 for Mac and installed the plugin with version 1.6.5.0.
Unfortunally G'MIC doesn´t show up in GIMPs Filter list now :(

so I´ve started the plugin manually and got the following output:

:~ user$ /Users/user/Library/Application\ Support/GIMP/2.8/plug-ins/gmic_gimp ; exit;
dyld: Library not loaded: /tmp/skl/Gimp.app/Contents/Resources/lib/libfftw3.3.dylib
Referenced from: /Users/user/Library/Application Support/GIMP/2.8/plug-ins/gmic_gimp
Reason: image not found
Trace/BPT trap: 5

Hello Axel.
Unfortunately, I won't be able to help for the installation itself (never had a mac).
Partha and karo may help if they are around.
Once the plugin is installed, solving issues is something I can do, unless this is a mac-specific problem :-S

Thank you Ronounours.
One big problem - the one with the download path - seems to be solved now.

Another hint, that you don't use the fitting Gimp app! The app GIMP.app from GimponOSX creates at launch a link in temporary folder to the bundle libraries starting with /tmp/skl/GIMP.app ... And the gmic_gimp plugin is linked against these libraries!

Thank you - but this works also with my version of GIMP for Mac.
GIMP shows the G´MIC plugin while starting as text in the starting window.
But finally it isn´t there in the "filters" menue.

I don't understand. Does it show the/an error message or anything else?

In fact I am a bit confused, either you have the combination GimponOSX and gmic_gimp plugin, all at the expected locations, or not. Not means there are a really good number of possibilities for failings!

So - finally I have a functional version of GIMP for Mac OS with a functional GMIC Filter
plugin.
Thanks Partha.com!! (and the hints in this forum ;) )

MacGIMP 2.8.14 64Bit works after
system reboot fine until now.
No other folders or settings are needed. Just drop the application into applications folder and
make sure that no other GIMP versions or presets are active.
