Oh, man. That looks so tedious. We are definitely lucky to have Gimp (and Photoshop) to do all that.

That's how I use to do everything. It was how things were done.

Back then, people use to say that I was very talented, but I would shrug it off and think, "they don't know the half of it".

Now, with a little knowledge, this can all be done in a very large fraction of the time.

Those were the days all right, If they only knew.

When I was doing typesetting (not for long) for an offset printing business I started with my then wife and father-in-law, we used Quark on a Mac OS9.1 I believe. lol

Glad I didn't have to do it this way. lol

Man, that is old school.

I went to college when I was 30 years old and learned all that stuff. Computers are much better.

Now we know where the term "cut and paste" comes from! Literally!

That takes me back to high school . Since I was the math person, my job was to figure out how to crop the photos. We pasted all the articles, photos, etc. on these big poster boards, which were then photographed and copied.

The fact of the matter is with a small amount of training on PS just about anyone can now do graphic art it is very hard to get a client these days. Their are just too many people in many different countries doing it now. No longer is it a skilled labor. And with the internet most clients go with the cheapest price out there. And believe me some of these companies do this stuff for pennies. But it is much faster.
