sallyanne: oooh, i like that!! a paisley out of paisleys, it can't get much better :). i like both versions, the first best, perhaps, but the fractalised result has the advantage of that fractalise subpattern going on.

oldmangrumpy: i'm jealous now! i can't put in more scripts or plug-ins on my gimp (it's already taking up far too much space and using far too much memory when i run it), so i can't use the path inbetweener script :(. ah well, you may post more paisleys like that in the future, i'll have to enjoy those instead. oh, and i can see plenty of paisley units in that last picture, and as long as they are present it fits in this thread :)! what would be the fun of making paisleys if you couldn't stretch the definitions and play with the patterns a bit?

I was in the process of posting yesterday when GIMPCHAT went down - I presume for the ISP change over. Cannot seem to find those posts anywhere now!

No matter - couple of newbies; first a new paisley pattern made from the one I used for the shirt/tie extravaganza; now it looks like a paisley bean hotpot ...

Image

... and a fossilised butterfly paisley, again using Ofnuts toolkit ...

oldmangrumpy: that's so cool! :jumpclap lucky for you you're not addicted to paisleys, isn't it?

Anmal - thank you, but yes I obviously have a problem; last night my wife took me to a group meeting where I had to stand up and say "Hello, my name is Oldmangrumpy and I am a paisley addict". Then they all stood up and shouted "That's OK, so are we".

No matter, 2 more then I am going to to have a rest for a while (a bit like a New Year Resolution??) ...

Paisley rose garden with mixed paisley background ...

... and more paths with chisel/carve and alpha shine effects!

Paisley or not these images are really helping me to learn about paths and now brushes and how to adjust their settings for effect.

oldmangrumpy: :hi5 nice flower brushed paisleys!! the image shine ones are nice too, but the others i guess are more my thing :). you know, when i still had time over for doing all the text tutorials people posted here (where is conbagui, by the way? he hasn't posted a new text tutorial in ages!) i always tried them out on paisleys. and very often, the tutorials involved plug-ins and scripts that would only work on a text layer, so i had to nag people to come up with an alpha function or i had to work out how to do the same thing manually. so i guess a paisley addiction really is a healthy thing and teaches you a lot....

OMG What fantastic outcomes I like all of them specially the one with roses. It's really nice. :hi5
AnMal, I have to tank you so much for sharing your ways to get paisleys.
I drop the last one I did. :)

issabella: that's a real stunner! there's a depth in the background that almost sucks you in :). How did you do this particular one?

AnMal, it's only applying gradients with similar colours to the ones used in paisleys, then I start to apply Whirl and Pinch to my intuition and duplicate that layer and play with layer mode and continue playing like that several times until I like the result. Sorry I can't be more precise as it's always without any rule. Thanks for your nice words. :) :tyspin

Anmal, OdinBc and Issabella - thank you - the paisleys just keep coming even though I am trying hard to attempt something else.

Issabella - looks like you are a paisley addict too! ;)

Image

A paisley portal to another world; maybe thats the exit I was looking for. Anmal, just wear dark glasses for the shiny ones ;)

just had to post this - i think it's definitely one of my best ever paisleys. the only paisley i've made that i liked better was my old fire paisley, but i made that from a tutorial and this is using the "sisterheart" look that i experimented up myself.

Anmal - wow excellent paisley; I must try something like that.

Pat625 - I knocked up a document (tutorial?) showing my workflow on that image in post #91 - you will find it at viewtopic.php?f=23&t=12878

Hope it is clear and of some help.

I enjoy each one of your outcomes from the very start of this thread. I think that AnMal put a very attractive hook to us all. :hehe
Here one more to the collection. :) Thanks OMG for your idea of design in your paisleys. :tyspin
The nice frame is a Dinasset's script named "Creates a glass frame" :tyspin
