Text Shape

Hiya....I would like to make my text so that the the middle section is shorter than the ends but cannot find a tool to do this for me....can you help please

Dare I say less than perfect.

For just a change in character size use the on canvas text tool

For a curved effect then saulgoodes script warp text

and truthfully for a really good result. Inkscape and import the resulting svg as a Gimp path.

@Rich2005 - I would have thought that the judgement on a possible solution rested with the original requester.

I certainly did not post it as a 'perfect solution' and did say it was just a quickie. Whilst you may have something that improves the options available, casting aspersions on my attempt to help out is not appreciated.

Did not cast aspersions on anything or anyone, just offering some alternatives that give a better result (less jaggies) than the curve bend tool. Of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Whatever works for you is what you use.

Top to bottom 1) Often overlooked is adjusting the text properties 2) saulgoodes warp-text, truthfully is very slow but gets there. 3) A slight bend using Inkscape. can be useful because the individual characters import as separate paths.

A am sure there will be other ways as well.

BTW I belong to the grumpy-old-man-club as well and reserve the right to be grumpy

GIMP needs an envelope tool for sure. Saulgoodes warp text script does a fantastic job in the meantime though.
Be sure and read the directions for path lines. There is a certain way to create the path to warp the text to.I believe it is top left and three more nodes in a clockwise direction gives best results. Path must be closed of course.
