Thanks jazzon, I drop the template which I used to run Path Blend script on. I used a colourful gradient in the option. So easy with nice results. Thanks Rob for your nice script.
Wow OMG, I want to do that! It's really awesome! :clap

Glad it has interesting results!

The errors sometimes happen - I think there are some bugs in Gimp.

and @OMG - that red thing is pure awesome sauce! I'd buy that and put it on my wall!

RobA - well thank you RobA, but I simply put a couple of paths into your terrific script. Sometimes I get lucky!

@Rob
I think your script will probably need an update for Gimp 2.9 onwards :)

Issabella - scrolls and a lotus - very nice and well done. I have downloaded your flower template to see what I can come up with.

A bonus with this script is that the results (unexpected at times!), if they do not turn out as stunning as some, can still lend themselves to further interpretation. Since I started trying out this script, things have been happening in Sydney skies ... like huge double 'path blend' kites flying past ...

Image

... and nocturnal, 'path blend' killer bees flying to the lights of the city ...

Image

.. well its my imagination and it works for me ;)

Most likely, but I've been through this since 2.2, and only update my scripts once the next stable comes out.... to many things are prone to changing.

Starting to work out now how the script works in practice and have used one of Rob's other scripts to create some neat new gradients with some transparent sections. The more I play the more I (think) I realise that simple paths work just as well and more quickly! But this script is so much fun it does warrant much more exploration ... but don't most such scripts. :)

Well, I think this terrific script deserves more posts, so I will make one more post then call it a day.

Image

... Anmal and Erisian will understand why I call it The Chalice :hehe

And one with a very simple set of paths, a new gradient with transparency between each colour and a bit of Samj GMIC.

Image

Thanks again RobA for this terrific script and for the extra glass of wine I consumed tonight waiting for it to complete.

Issabella - here you are, a 'silueta de flor' path blend composite using one of my new transparent gradients - most times I still have no idea what the outcome will be, but the its all the learning that is important!

Image

Anmal - as we used to say when I was a kid (just remember it) 'ta muchly'.

oldmangrumpy: i think the transparency in the gradients are a nice touch. i haven't got very much playtime, but just as i'm writing this i'm waiting for a path-plend render. i remember from last time i had this script that it takes a while, but on this computer it takes eons. sigh!

edit: it's now eons later and i have two renders ready :)! my laptop jammed up completely when i started the third render, so i'm giving it a rest from gimp and will try again later. in the meantime, here are the simple things i started with: a hippie flower (that's what we called them when i was a teenager and they were trendy again for a short while) and a hexagon. the flower got some ugly seams here and there, so i did some retouching on it, but the hexagon looks very neat. i was stupid enough to forget he4rty's advice early in this thread, next time i'll probably get it even neater.

OMG has invented (and issued the first) Golden Chalice award for scripting In his earlier post on this very page.

So RobA is awarded the first Golden Chalice!

And I truly love the one before it! That is a work of art in every respect!

My attempt at using the Path Blend Script: I did the initial blend of two paths, repeated it twice using a new larger path plus the outer path of the previous blend. Added background.

Beautiful outcome, Pat. :)
AnMal, your outcomes are so colourful and beautiful. And yes, this script takes its time to produce so interesting results. :)
OMG, you are always an inspiration for me. :)
I tried my outcome rendered in glass with BRL.

I'm doing a lot of gimp --verbose lately as I test some code, and I happend to notice this error coming up:
RMA-path-blend: image-type contains unrecognizable parts:'RGB*, GREY*'

Should GREY* be GRAY* by any chance?
