Been a member of a photo restoring site for nearly six months and was invited by the founder to another of his groups. "Retoucher's Round Table" Wow, to be identified as one of the best in this group. I am flabbergasted.
I was asked what I used to do restorations until after I was invited.

Well done! It doesn't matter if there are Gimpers there or not, you can educate them!

The MK-2 has been built. Should this be the next question?

Make it a point to always let them know that you use Gimp for your photo restorations.

Will do. Have been through the current page of discussions and a couple there were Gimp users before they found other programs. I have asked the question if anyone else in the group uses Gimp but no one has answered....yet.

Not happened yet but the same person who invited me asked me
"how would you like to grab a copy of Photoshop CC !
It will be great for you to learn something new from scratch and be as like the rest of us who use it."

Told him I cant afford it and may be able to give others pointers (quite new at this) and that gimp has changed a lot even to do more photograph stuff now.

I may be just a pessimist but now I am scared I will get uninvited :(

Until then....if, I will show them that gimp can do just as good a job if not better than Photoshop

Thanks Anmal and OMG

Well said Sallyanne, :yes
The most important thing is you feel sure and all right. Your knowledge and skills will be evident to them all. :bigthup :gimp :)

Thanks Oregonean and Odin.

I don't want to be rude but how do I tell them I DONT want to change and be polite about it! I have been asked again to change over.

think it's great you're invited...
You should just challenge them to challenge you to prove that a lot of things if not all that can be done in PS can be done in GIMP..unless they 're able to convince you otherwise.
With your GIMP skills you might convert them instead of them converting you heheh

I think the Gimp or Photoshop thing is silly anyway. Without prejudice everyone should use the tools that they know and are most comfortable with unless required by business. I had to use Photoshop at work for years and don't need or miss it a bit.

If you feel confident enough in your skills (and WE do!) ask them for something that needs retouching and prove your abilities! Like you said, it's an individuals choice what tools they use, and if the site is photo-centric and not tool-centric, then it shouldn't matter anyway!

Heck, I'm new here and even I know your 'that' good!
