How to wrap a picture around text?

GIMP Version: 2.8.14
Operating System: Windows
OS Version: 7
GIMP Experience: Basic Level

Can anyone explain (in small, simple words) how to wrap a picture around a text letter and make it look like they're intertwined? I think it shouldn't be that hard, but I just can't get there. something like this, I think, with a letter instead of the world?

You might consider a custom brush and paths. Here's a tutorial showing the basic concept, Frost crystals text effect or Text along path depending on your needs. Check the links and provide more info.
