Ok, so I tried to compile bascii pre alpha, doing so successfully, but there are no instructions anywhere I can find, on how to run it. It isn't registered in the GIMP menus as far as the c file shows. The sourceforge site is like bare bones. It's not critical, but apparently the author thought we were all mindreaders. Joy!
Anyhow, I know GIMP converts files to ascii via saving files to txt. The bigger question is, why doesn't GIMP allow for you to view your ascii/text file afterwards? This seems rather odd. Sure, when I open the txt file in an editor I get a very large page which my screen won't allow me to see in full. Surely there is a better way and I am just not aware of it?
I thought I was being savvy, by copying the text file and pasting it as a new image into gimp, and all that does is gives you a transparent image with the text image area in a solid white color. I was expecting to see black text on white background. Any information appreciated.
