How about red cubes?
I just thought I play around and create this simple "Red Cube" art piece by using map object(box).
each cube is rotated 20 degrees from its adjacent cube(s).

great idea.
I turned my purple cubes into layers by using Break apart by Alpha to get individual frames.
Then saved that as an animated gimp brush.

You do know I cheated right Wallace? lol

I used Sprite Tape to extract the brushes into a single layer and the Acquired the Alpha Channel as another layer. Saved both to create a DAP preset and ran DAP on my old avatar. :)

It's either in this post or the one after it: http://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=12971&hilit=sprite&start=20#p176140
Here it is from my computer:

I don't know if you need to but I did this anyways (selected the background color of the purple cubes by using select by color and deleted so it's transparent).

I have no idea what you're talking about!
